OUR SAFARIS

Listed below are examples of the safaris we run around the Loch Ewe area. We run our safaris on a day and time to suit you, and there is no minimum number of attendees, so if you would like to book one of these safaris please contact us.

Our safaris are suitable for all ages and are aimed from complete beginners to keen wildlife watchers. We have binoculars that we can lend you if you don't have your own. 

River Ewe Safari

This is our shortest walking safari, an easy stroll along the River Ewe. On our walk we might see ducks and dippers on the river, salmon, and even an otter or seal. We'll learn about the lifecycle of salmon and get a taster of the wildlife and nature of the riverside. The walk is about a mile and will take around an hour on mostly flat, tarred paths.

Cost: 1 adult £15, 2 adults £25, 3 or more adults £10 each. Up to 2 children free per paying adult.

How To Watch Wild Otters

One of the questions we get asked most often is "where can I see an otter"? In this one-hour workshop we will give you all the information you need to give you the best chance of spotting a wild otter, and we might even see one during our workshop if we're lucky. Book this workshop at the start of your stay in the area to maximise your chances of seeing that elusive otter!

Poolewe Beach and River Safari

We'll walk along the shoreline at Poolewe and then up by the side of the River Ewe. On our walk we might see ducks and dippers on the river, a sea eagle overhead, waders, salmon, and even an otter or seal . The walk is about 2 miles and will take around 2 hours on mostly flat, tarred paths.

Cost: 1 adult £30, 2 adults £50, 3 or more adults £20 each. Up to 2 children free per paying adult.

Exploring Loch Ewe's Rainforest

Explore the 'Atlantic rainforest' at the head of Loch Ewe with us. We'll discover the trees, plants and lichens of the woodlands and learn all about the habitat. We might see some woodland birds such as treecreepers or crossbills, and signs of red squirrels or pine martens. The walk is about 2 miles on woodland paths and will take around 2 hours allowing us plenty of time to stop and observe.

Shores, Moors and Woodlands of Loch Ewe

Take a tour round three of the different habitats of Loch Ewe. We'll learn about the species that live on the shoreline, in the woodland and on the moors. Waders, otters, red squirrels and eagles all live here so who knows what you might see? The walk is about 2.5 miles and will take around 2.5 hours allowing us plenty of time to stop and observe.

Cost: 1 adult £40, 2 adults £55, 3 or more adults £25 each. Up to 2 children free per paying adult.

The Lighthouse Headland

Rua Reidh Lighthouse is at the very tip of the Inverasdale peninsula, looking out onto the Minch and the Atlantic. We'll do a circuit of the headland, looking out for seabirds such as gannets, puffins and shags, and in season try to spot whales, dolphins and basking sharks from the shore. On the moorland we'll explore the biodiversity of the blanket bog and the fascinating species that live there. The walk is about 3 miles and will take around 3 hours allowing us plenty of time to stop and observe.

Cove Cliffs, Moors and Shores

Cove lies at the entrance to Loch Ewe, looking out onto the Minch and the Atlantic. We'll walk from the WW2 anti-aircraft battery along the cliff edge to the memorial for the William H Welch liberty ship, discovering the flora and fauna along the way. We might see sea eagles, or shags on the cliffs or maybe an otter. Out to sea, we might spot gannets diving, or occasionally even dolphins and porpoises. The walk is about 4 miles and will take around 4 hours allowing us plenty of time to stop and observe.

Circuit of Loch Kernsary

A full day walking round the perimeter of Loch Kernsary, taking in the Loch Ewe shoreline and the woodlands at the head of Loch Ewe as well.  We might see any of our resident species including sea eagles, otters, waders, seabirds, seals, red squirrels, red deer or pine martens. You'll need to be reasonably fit as the walk is about 7 miles and we will be out for a full day to allow us plenty of time to stop and observe.

If there's nothing in the list of 'standard' safaris above that suits you, please feel free to contact us to tailor your own bespoke safari. Maybe there is a special habitat you want to explore, or a particular species you want to try to spot. Maybe you have restricted mobility or a group that you want to set up something special for. We'll do our best to set up a safari that you'll love.
